In this episode, we play (and dissect) Sitting on Top of the World. This is the most “modern” of our Core Songs (coming from as recent as 1930). Despite its youth, however, Sitting on Top of the World has fully entered the oral tradition, with dozens of variants evolving over the years. Our focus in this episode is on the common bluegrass-style version, though we also take a moment to listen to the original recording of the song by the Mississippi Sheiks.
